DES is pleased to announce an exciting addition to the line-up of premium Chromajet papers. Chromajet Centurion Metallic premium inkjet media are Australia’s first ever papers with a metallic surface finish, that are designed for use in an inkjet printer. The finish is similar to silver halide metallic photo papers, and offers exceptional image clarity, and brilliant colour reproduction with a high-gloss metallic finish. Chromajet Centurion Metallic papers are compatible with any inkjet printer and require no special inks, or finishing techniques to achieve the metallic effect.
Overseas the photo industry is already abuzz with talk about the metallic inkjet media. At the USA PMA2010 Trade Show and Exhibition in February, it was twice selected as Hot Pick of the show. One of those who selected the product was recently awarded International PMA Territorial Vice President of the Year - Alan Logue, of Adelaide’s Hutt St Cameras.
Logue currently prints a considerable amount of metallic for his pro accounts, so naturally he was keen to put the inkjet media to the test. Upon his return to Australia he got the chance to do so, and was delighted with the quality: “Next to no bronzing, great blacks and good shadow detail”. Logue immediately saw the potential: “This will give us a great alternative to our existing gloss paper”. Without hesitation Logue put his name down to be the first Photo Lab to utilise the Chromajet Centurion Metallic.
Digital Camera Warehouse saw the demand for prosumers and enthusiasts, and was quick to sign up as the first retailer. DCW will offer sheet packs to enthusiasts through their stores, and their online shop.
Multi-award winning photographers Marcus Bell and Adam Finch of Studio Impressions had an opportunity to get their hands on the paper: “They handle deep and rich colours, especially reds and greens very well, which was very important… as high colour images would be where most of the need for a glossy/metallic stock would lie for the work we do. They noted the ease of profiling: “thoroughly impressed with both the quality of the end result, and the ease of use of the product.” Also recognised were the advantages of finally being able to print metallic-finish images in-house: “not only because chemical process metallic paper prints take up to a week for us to have done well, but it gives us a huge amount of flexibility to experiment with different papers all with one output device.”
DES will be stocking two variants of the Metallic paper; ‘Pearl’ and ‘Bright White’, and they will be available in roll form and sheet packs.
The products will be available to purchase around mid-May, and will be featured on the DES stand at the PMA Australia 2010 Digital Life Expo & Conference in Melbourne.
